What is a Launch Team?
A launch team or street team is a special group composed of people who are excited about an author and enthusiastic about spreading the word about their work.
Depending on what numbers you believe there are somewhere between 600,000 and 1,000,000 books published each year in the U.S. With all of the options how do people find books they want to read?
The best way is word of mouth and that’s where a launch team comes into play.
FAQ About the Launch Team
-
What is a Launch Team members responsibilities & expectations? The main “responsibility” of a Launch Team member is to help spread the word about my books as they are able. Some ways this can happen… In-Person: Tell people you know about the books and share with friends & family to help spread the word. Buy the books during the first week of release – this helps get books on bestseller lists. Ask your local library to order my books, give the librarians the title, name, ISBN, and link. Leave promo materials at local book stores, coffee shops, or library – with permission! Online: Signal boost my social posts by linking/sharing, and post your own. Join in any big social pushes for releases or announcements. Feature interviews, reviews, excerpts or anything else on your blog, website, Facebook, etc… Recommend my books on websites like Goodreads or BookBub and add them to relevant lists. Review the books as soon as possible on Amazon, Goodreads, and other online retailers with your (honest) thoughts. … Overall though, the Launch Team is designed to be fun! There’s not a “requisite amount” members have to do.

What do I get for being on the Launch Team?I know asking you to keep my book top-of-mind in your day-to-day life is a lot. So, along with my gratitude, you’ll have a few other perks. All of these will change and vary over time, as I’m constantly striving to make the perks and benefits of being a Launch Team member better. For now, here’s some idea of what you can expect: Codes and links to discounted books. The opportunity to apply for early copies of my upcoming work (ARCs).

What about Advanced Review Copies (ARCs)?I do want to stress that simply being on the Launch Team does not guarantee you an ARC. Every release, I set aside a certain quantity of ARCs exclusively for my Launch Team. But, the demand exceeds my ability to supply. So I have a sign-up form and usually accept a portion of applicants. Thus, being a Launch Team member does increase your chances of receiving an ARC. But doesn’t promise you one.
Great! Welcome!
Anyone who is willing to spread the word about my books can become a Launch Team member!
